Vintage Missoni Cardigan. Missoni are famous for its signature multicolored knitwear. In 1953, Ottavio and Rosita Missoni established a small knitwear workshop in Gallarate, Italy, and presented their first collection in Milan in 1958. With the support of fashion editor Anna Piaggi at Arianna magazine, the business flourished. Later on, Rosita collaborated with French stylist Emmanuelle Khanh, leading to a collection shown at the Pitti in Florence in 1967. The Missonis experienced a moment of controversy when the models were asked to remove their bras, revealing the transparent material of the garments. Despite not being invited back the following year, the business continued to grow. The fashion world embraced Missoni designs in the early 1970s, and the brand has seen revivals in recent years.
