Vintage Beatles T-Shirt. By early 1964, the Beatles had become international superstars, revolutionizing pop culture with an unprecedented level of critical and commercial success. Their influence helped spur the British Invasion of America's music market and, after making their film debut in A Hard Day's Night, the group began to focus on producing more sophisticated records. This included the albums Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966) and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), followed by The Beatles (aka "the White Album", 1968) and Abbey Road (1969). These successes shifted public interest to the album format as opposed to singles, and ignited advancements in electronic music, album art and music videos. In 1968, the band created Apple Corps, a multi-armed multimedia corporation still managing their legacy today. After the band split in 1970, all members had individual success and some reunions have occurred. Lennon was killed in 1980 and Harrison passed in 2001, but McCartney and Starr are still actively making music.
