The Vintage Ajax Away 17/18 Football Shirt commemorates the 2017–18 season when Ajax competed in the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup. That year, the team also entered the UEFA Champions League and Europa League qualifiers but failed to advance to the group stages in either tournament. This was the first time since the 1990–91 season—when Ajax was banned from European competition due to the staafincident—that the club missed out on UEFA group stage qualification. The squad began their preseason training on 29 June 2017.
