Rare Vintage 1950s Princeton Letterman Cardigan. By the Princeton Knitting Mills company. Medium weight Red knit with black “R” on left chest. Button down front. The Princeton Knitting Mills company was a manufacturer of knitted fabrics but later grew to producing rayon and other synthetic fabrics. Founded in the early 20th century, the Princeton Knitting Mills company had two plants in Connecticut which were located in Watertown and Waterbury. The Watertown plant arrived first in 1931 while the Waterbury plant arrived later in 1943. The company was eventually bought by Burlington in 1959.
