Beautiful Ca. 1980’s Vintage Castell & Son (Oxford) Wool Cable Knit Cricket Sweater.
Castell’s now trading as the Varsity Shop was originally founded in 1846 in St Gile’s, Oxford. Castells originated the Oxford College Colors in the 1850’s and introduced the first modern style necktie in 1870 as well as creating the famous Oxford University crested tie.
This beautiful knit features an intricately cable knit pattern running throughout, done in a stunning cream white colour. The piece takes on the classic design of a traditional cable Oxford knitted cricket sweater, and is crafted from a soft, mid-weight, 100% wool. Classic contrast pattern is implemented on the v-neck and bottom hem ribbing, which perfectly contrasts the cable knitted pattern. Fits like a fitted men’s size large. In beautiful vintage condition with no flaws, a great deal the age considering.
